About Me

Martin Ankel

Hello there,

The name is Ankel, Martin Ankel. I’m a man in my prime, with the opinion that life is only enjoyed to the fullest when in nature. It is in nature I find tranquility, clarity, meaning and purpose. The list of outdoor activities I enjoy is long, too long to publish here, instead I refer you to the blog posts. I do, however, have a preference: long distance thru hiking. There is simply something magical about leaving society, not having your phone, charting your own way, and carrying everything you require to be completely self-sufficient for weeks. It is almost a deeply spiritual experience.

The purpose of the blog is primarily for myself – I have enjoyed so many adventures throughout the years and, frankly,  I’m starting to struggle recalling details and specific chains of events. Considering that I want to reminisce about my (hopefully) many journeys and adventures well into my golden years, I have reached the conclusion that I must start documenting, and I thought starting a blog would be a fun way to do just that.  Because who knows, I might inspire others to go on their own adventures.

Some blog posts will be in Swedish and others in English, at least initially, as I want to practice my writing in both my mother tongue and in English. There might even be some Spanish posts in the future! Regarding the name of the blog, I have a PhD. in physics, specifically I studied/developed new and innovative radar systems.
